Nature’s firework
Aurora Borealis is a spectacular natural phenomenon that appears when electrical charged particles from the sun affects the magnetic field of the earth. The phenomenon can only be seen at the southern and northern poles of the earth. It is therefore a unique opportunity on your journey to Ilulissat during the wintertime to experience the spellbound sight seen from the sea.
The sail will take you into Disko Bay in the quest for the fascinating lights. By distancing us from the town, the experience of the northern lights will become more visible and clearer. We will do several stops to enjoy the sight of the sky igniting in wavey shapes and colors in one of the most beautiful sky phenomena with icebergs sprouting in the background.
The Northern lights appear all year around, but due to the midnight sun the phenomenon can only be seen during the winter months in the Arctic Circle. The weather forecast must predict a clear sky in order to see the levitating lights. Therefore, we will only sail out if the weather allows it.

Practical Information
- DURATION: 2 hours
- SEASON:The trip takes place in February and March. Remember warm clothes.
- NOTE: We only sail out when the weather forecast calls for a clear sky giving us the best chance of seeing the lights. We can therefore be required to cancel in the last minute if it gets cloudy. We will then to our best ability try and rebook for another day.
